Fantasy Draft Order Generator

Random draft order with an animated reveal.

Built and maintained by Paul Clark, Redmoon Software · Last checked

Paste your league's managers one per line and get a randomized draft order that reveals pick by pick — built for screen-sharing on fantasy football draft night. A weighted lottery option gives last season's worst teams better odds at early picks, and an optional seed makes the draw reproducible, so anyone can re-run it and verify nobody rigged the result.

List. Paste your league's team or manager names, one per line.

  4. Share. Export the order as CSV or copy it to post in your league chat.

About the Fantasy Draft Order Generator

Plain shuffle or weighted lottery

By default every team has an identical chance at every pick — a straight shuffle where all orderings are equally likely. That is what most casual leagues want and it needs no explanation to anyone.

Ticking Weighted lottery changes the model to something closer to a professional draft lottery. The tool assigns weights by position in your list: the first team you paste gets the highest weight, the second slightly less, down to the last team getting the lowest. So the list order is the lottery odds, which is why the option tells you to paste in reverse of last season’s standings, worst team first.

It is a genuine lottery rather than a guaranteed order. The worst team is most likely to pick first and is not certain to — that is the entire point of a lottery, and it is what discourages losing on purpose.

The seed is what makes a draft defensible

A draft order that matters to people needs to be more than fair; it needs to be demonstrably fair. The Seed field is how you get there: with a seed set, the same list in the same order with the same settings always produces the same result.

The procedure worth following is to publish the team list and the seed before the draw — a date, a fixture score, anything nobody controls — and then run it. Anyone can reproduce the result afterwards, which makes "you re-rolled until you got first pick" an accusation that can be checked rather than argued about. Without a seed, every run is fresh and unrepeatable, and you are asking people to take your word for it.

Turning an order into a draft

  • The output is a first-round order. Whether your draft snakes back for round two is a rule you apply, not something the tool decides.
  • Weighted mode uses list position only. Two teams with identical records need you to decide which goes first in the list.
  • Export the CSV and post it. A draft order in a screenshot is a draft order somebody will dispute.
  • A snake draft evens out pick position, not squad strength — that difference is worth understanding before you promise anyone a balanced league.

Frequently asked questions

How do the weighted lottery odds work?

Paste teams worst-to-first. The first line gets the most lottery tickets and the last line gets one, then picks are drawn without replacement — so bad teams are favored but nothing is guaranteed.

Can my league verify the draw wasn't rigged?

Yes. Announce a seed before draft night, enter it in Options, and generate. The same seed and the same list always reproduce the identical order, so anyone can re-run it.

Does weighted mode guarantee the worst team gets the first pick?

No. It only improves their odds, the way the NBA draft lottery does. Any team can still land any slot, which keeps the reveal suspenseful and stops tanking from paying off automatically.

How does the pick-by-pick reveal work?

Each draft slot animates onto the screen in sequence with a short delay, top pick first, so a screen-shared reveal builds suspense without you clicking anything.

Is my team list saved between visits?

Yes. The list is stored in your browser, so it's still there next season. You can also download the final order as a CSV for your league's records.
